GERUNDS AND INFINITIVES


GERUNDS AND INFINITIVES


We use gerunds :
a)  after expressions like: can’t stand, feel like, don’t mind, prefer.
b) after some verbs: like, hate, enjoy, love, avoid. 
c) Gerunds can function as the subject of a sentence. 
d) after a preposition.

We use infinitives:
a) Some adjectives are followed by an infinitive.
b) Certain verbs such as want, decide, need, agree, promise are followed by an infinitive.

Complete the sentences with the verbs in
brackets. Use gerunds or infinitives.
1.-My cat is afraid of water. He can’t stand ……………………… (have) a bath.
